Manufacturer’s identification, product and production information, size, price, date, and other information related to the use of the products are placed on the packages by on-line coding, marking and imprinting machines. Â These machines are normally mounted on packaging machines or conveyors, or they are inserted into the line, so that they operate in conjunction with the rest of the packaging line.

Coder equipment is used to provide information that is needed for many quality control, product handling, legal and insurance requirements.There are direct contact printing, offset, non-contact, roll leaf stamping embossing and notching or perforating are all methods of coding.
There are both hot and cold melt ink printers as well as flexographic, anilox roll, platen, dry offset, hot stamping and cold stampling styles of printing. All of these printing methods require different types of inks.
