Robotic case packers are designed to utilize a robotic arm to pick-up bottles, bags, cartoners, or other containers and place them into a case. Because the robotic arm is processor controlled, the robotic case packer can be programmed to create a number of different pack patterns. The tooling on the end of the robotic arm in a robotic case packer is designed a particular pack pattern and container size.
The tooling on the end of the robotic arm can be designed to use different mechanisms to pick-up the containers. Some end-of-arm tooling on robotic case packers use suction cups to draw a vacuum against the flat top of a container. Vacuum suction cup arms are often used for cartons, bags, or other containers that have a large upper flat surface onto which the suctions cups can draw a vacuum. Some end-of-arm tooling on robotic case packers is designed with tooling which fits over the neck of a bottle. An air bladder inside the tooling expands once the neck of the bottle is in the tooling to secure the bottle inside the tooling. The robotic arm the moves the bottles to the case where the air is exhausted from the air bladders to release the bottles in the case.
