A Counter Slat machine is a pill, tablet or capsule counting machine which uses slats as a way to count out the appropriate number of tablets. The horizontal slats are powered around a track and have a number holes cut into them equivalent to the number of tablets or containers the machine needs to fill. The size of the holes is specific to the tablets the machine is filling so that only one tablet can fit in a hole. As the slate passes under the product hopper, one and only one tablet falls into the hole in the slate. The slat is then powered around to where the slat is now upside down and the tablet falls out of the hole in the slat and into a funnel, which guides it to a waiting container. Once the proper number of tablets have been dispensed to the containers, these containers are released and new set of containers is indexed underneath the machine.
