New Vs Used Food Packaging, Processing Machinery

This is a road you’ve all been down and a question that comes up often – Should I buy new or used?  Most of us have experienced buying both and the rule of thumb dictates that we typically search out new.

However, for larger purchases, such as a house, car, boat, etc. many of us have experience in buying used. Why is that the case? Of course, buying used means saving money – and the larger the purchase, the more money you’re likely to save.  Sometimes, it’s more complex than just cash alone.

In the instance of houses, for example, some people want to buy a house in a certain location, close to family, or in a certain school district. Maybe they desire more mature neighborhoods with of fully grown trees. Maybe it’s the fact that the house is already built and they don’t want go thru the process of selecting every option on a new house.

In the instance of cars, the longer a car is in market, the more reviews come in on it and the better we understand the quality of a given make and model.  Some years are just better than others, proven thru time, battle tested and sought after more often by auto enthusiasts. Tried and true vehicles can save you money, headache, and time – in addition to cash.

It’s usually a combination of items to consider.  The same is true for used machinery.  Over decades, we’ve seen certain machinery models integrated into complete packaging lines over and over again even though they are older than half of our workforce.

Case in point: seamer machines from Canco. They are tried and true and we buy and sell them again and again.

We’ve justified the decision to buy used over 25,000 times. Some machines are stripped down for parts, some are practically new and ready to go with very little engineering and technician work.

In the end, they are big “hunks of metal” that we’ve come to know and love while meeting the need for a diverse set of customers.
