Industrial Pumps
Positive displacement pumps are operated by using a vacuum to draw liquid into a cavity. The inlet is then blocked by means of a valve, the high pressure created forces the liquid out the discharge outlet. Because of the high pressure that is created, positive displacement pumps are able to move heavy fluids better than a centrifugal pump. Centrifugal pumps are less expensive and better suited for thin fluids like water that require less pressure to move.
