Our customers can’t get machinery fast enough.

We often increase our customer’s packaging capacity, production, replace broken down machines, or fill the gap for customers who wait for new machinery to arrive.

However, it’s not necessary to put yourself into a pickle situation or bind in the first place.

Countless times, customers call us in a typical situation or SNAFU.

  • “I’m in a bit of a crisis.”

Machine speed and speed of getting a machine or lead time are two important considerations.

Numerous times a day we help customers calculate what machine speed they will need.

It’s a lesser question in the grand scheme to the customer, but we calculate the real speed needed so often we likely save the customer time and money in doing so within a quick phone call.

Equally or likely more important is how quickly you can get a machine.  A lightning-fast machine speed doesn’t help, if you can’t get the machine for setup and running your product by _____________________ (fill in the blank with date).

If you need to put out a fire, you need the extinguisher in your hand, right now.  Later, the best or cheapest of extinguishers will be useless.

Typically our customers want and need the machine yesterday. Our customers do not pay the price of waiting, which is integral to the service we offer.

Our Customers Don’t Want Machines

Today, more and more people are tapping the Uber or Lyft app on their smartphones.  They’re not doing this because they want a car.  They’re doing it because they’re taking a trip – and need a vehicle to get from point A to point B.

In September, Frain Integration hosted the Uber Revolution Packaging Summit, an event sponsored by the Contract Packaging Association.  One big take away from this event was that yesterday’s owned assets are being replaced by shared assets today. Keynote speaker, Ron Sasine of Hudson Windsor pointed out that, “Yesterday’s way of doing things seemed to work pretty well if you owned assets, but today’s market devalues asset ownership in favor of service providers.”

Endless variety and sense of urgency pushes for Uber-esque elements within today’s CPG supply chain.  For example, an Uber-style of packaging machinery supply will not only provide equipment when needed, as needed, for as long as it’s needed, it will:

  • decrease downtime
