Liquid and powder metal detectors, also knows as flow through metal detectors, are designed to have liquid or powder product flow through the metal detector field and thereby the electro-magnetic field created by the metal detector. Flow through metal detectors can be designed for vertical or horizontal operation. Vertical flow through metal detectors use gravity to feed product through the metal detector opening. Horizontal flow through metal detectors use augers, pumps, or other mechanisms to move the product through the metal detector head. Flow through metal detectors can be designed to divert the flow of product if metal is detected thereby preventing contamination of a larger batch of product.
