A case erector is a machine designed to erect a case from flat folded, pre-scored, case blank made from corrugated containerboard or other material. A case erector takes one case blank from a magazine and forms or erects the case through the uses of mechanical devices, pneumatic devices, or a combination of both depending on the design of the machine. Case erectors can be designed to seal the bottom of the case using either tape or glue, or not to seal the bottom of the case at all. Cases can be erected with either the case opening facing up or the case opening facing to the side. Special case erectors can be designed to erect bliss boxes, insert partitions into a box or case, or to erect a case and insert a bag into the case for a bag-in-box application (see Bag-in-box). Bliss boxes are created with a solid piece of containerboard that is formed to create the front, back, and bottom of the box. A bliss box case erector then inserts two additional pieces of containerboard to form the sides of the case. The two addition pieces are sealed to flaps on the main portion of the case using hot melt glue.
Case erectors are widely used in many industries for automated drop loading and hand packing applications. They are used to form cases, trays, and boxes for the food, beverage, nutraceutical, personal care and household care industries. Pearson Model BI18, Automatic bag inserter with number on cases per minute – depending on materials and application. Erected case size range: 9.5" to 24" in Length; 9.5" to 17" in Width; 10" to 24" in Depth Open (top flaps open and bottom flaps closed). Poly bag specifcations: Maximum bag width of 26" and maximum bag length of 38.5". Equipped with opening carriage and vacuum cup assist, (4) corner cuffing rods and (1) bag inserting head, which Inserts pre-performed roll stock or gusseted bag stock into cases, covering all corners and cuffing the bag around the outer perimeter, with vacuum pump, safety guarding and e-stop.
