A case set-up (Tray) is designed to form a tray from a pre-scored carton blank. The erected tray is kept together using either glue or the tray??s own flaps tucked into one another. Trays are used for packaging groups of cans and other containers for shipment and distribution. Trays have solid bottoms and flaps that are folded up and fastened to form the sides. The sides are frequently but not necessarily lower than the height of the containers. Loaded trays are frequently over wrapped with a stretch or shrink film to hold the individual containers or products in place and provide protection. Trays can be received from the converter as knocked down blanks and a tray former in or near the packaging line can form the trays. A tray set-up machine or tray former forms a tray from scored paperboard, chipboard, or corrugated that is folded flat, called a blank. The tray sides are sealed either by using glue or by tucking portions of the flaps, called tucks, into other tray flaps. Tray formers form trays based on the size of the tooling that is in the machine. The male portion of the tooling pushes the flat blank through the female portion of the tooling to form the tray. Tooling needs to be changed on a tray former to accommodate different size trays. (Some newer tray formers have tooling that is adjustable for trays sizes within a set size range.) Tray formers can be used to form many different kinds of trays including hooded trays or hooded cartons, six-corner trays, and laminated corner trays.

Tray size range: 8" to 22" in Length x 8" to 22" in Width x 2" to 9" in Depth. Equipped with 52" long blank tray magazine, vacuum recipicating pick and place, forming head. Nordson ProBlue hot melt glue system with 52" long x 20" wide tray conveyor with discharge height range of 20"-25" and interlock safety door guarding. All supported by control panel with start, stop and e-stop push buttons. Mounted on stainless steel frame with height adjustable legs.

Wexxar, Model TF385, Automatic, servo driven, hot melt glue tray former and sealer. Rated up to 25 trays per minute – depending on materials and application. Blank tray size range: 16" to 38" in Length x 13" to 51" in Width. Formed tray size range: 11" to 24" in Length x 10" to 32" in Width x 2.5" to 9.5" in Height. Equipped with 42" Long x 40" Wide x 18" High blank tray magazine with top tray stop, (4) suction cup reciprocating pick and place, bottom tray stop, mandrel ram with major flap plows and minor flap folders. Control panel has A/B PLC, with A/B Panel View and has interlock Lexan safety guarding, optional quick change adjustments and statis light bar. Mounted on heavy duty frame.

Doboy / Bosch, Model 7520, Automatic, dual head, tray former and hot melt glue sealer rated up to 70 cycles per minute with number of trays – depending on materials, application and machine configuration. Tray size range: flat blank up to 22" in Width; up to 30" in Length. Equipped with dual 30" long blank tray magazine, dual vacuum reciprocating suction cup pick-in-place has dual shuttle flat tray indexing systems with pusher lugs. No tray / no form photo eyes and Nordson ProBlue hot melt glue system. Control panel has touch pad controls with display, start and e-stop push buttons with A/B Powerflex vari-speed controllers and statis light bar. Tray size range: 3" to 15" in Length; 3" to 10" in Width, ¾" to 4½" in Depth each head. Capable of handling flat blank sizes up to 17" in Length and 20" in Width. Equipped with dual blank tray magazines, dual vacuum suction cup recipicating pick-in-place, mechanical tray forming heads, Nordson hot melt glue unit and on board vacuum system. Blank tray size up to 20.8" in Length; 40" in Width; 3/4" to 6.6" in Height. Equipped with (2) blank tray magazines, with suction cup vacuum reciprocating pick-in-places, (2) mechanical 6" x 6" tray forming heads and seal area with Lexan interlock safety doors. Control panel with has left and right feed on / off switches, speed control dial and power on and e-stop push buttons with strokes per minute readout. Mounted on stainless steel frame with height adjustable leveling legs.

Erected carton or tray size range: 5-1/2" to 11" in length; 1" to 4" in Depth. Equipped with blank carton or tray magazine, single head (one carton or tray per stroke) 48" long x single chain flighted take away conveyor set on 16" centers. Adco Model CF1200-30-SS, Top load, tuck tray former, rated from 25 to 120 trays per minute – depending on materials, application and machines configuration. All stainless steel construction. Lay flat size range of: 7" to 30" in length and 7" to 26" in width and Carton size range of: 3" to 17" in length, 3" to 8" in width, 0.75" to 4.5" in depth. Equipped with dual 42" long blank tray magazines and has recipicating suction cup pick n place, dual forming heads with 60" long lugged discharge conveyor set on 24" centers.
