Roller mills can be either vertical or horizontal and are referred to a refiners or finishers. The applications all require passing the material both dry as well as wet products through the rollers which are gapped at the nip point for precise size reduction.
The rollers are usually in pairs although there are three and five roller stands. The pressure to maintain the gap with roller mills can be controlled mechanically or hydraulically to assure uniform size reduction.
Lehmann Model 5 roller mill used as a refiner for chocolate masses, creams, soaps, or inks, to ensure homogeneous product fineness with amount of product per hour – depending on materials and application Equipped (5) rollers 16" (400mm) OD and 43" Long with a working surface of 40" (1000mm) Wide and jacketed for heating and cooling. The refiner features a receiver and product bin measuring 39" Wide x 51" High with hydraulic roller height adjustments, and a control box with plow down / lift, an hour meter with E-stop. Unit allows independent control of the first roll rotation speed through a variable speed drive unit. The first roll is brought near the second roll, which remains fixed in position, by means of a hydraulic cylinder equipped with a precise positioning system. The centrifuged cast iron rolls have an extremely hard outer surface to allow for long life and limited wear.Mounted on heavy duty frame.

Ferrell Ross, Model 18 x 12 Flakemaster, flaking mill. Rated up to 150 lbs per hour – depending on materials, application and machine configuration. Equipped with an 11½" wide x 16" long vibratory feed pan, (2) 12" wide x 18" diameter jacketed compression rollers each powered by a 7½ drive, air over hydraulic pump, pneumatic scrapers and 30" ground clearance from the frame.

J H Day, heavy duty 3-Roll dispersion mill rated from 100 to 700 lbs of product per hour – depending on materials and application. Equipped with 12" diameter x 34" long feed, and middle rollers, with scraper blades and 12"diameter x 34 "long apron roller, each with 32" long working roll area, total of 3 rollers. All 3 are cooled rolls made of hardened steel and each has 1-1/4" diameter port for cooling medium, start / stop controllers with (2) e-stops, 25 Hp chain motor drive and is mounted on heavy duty cast iron frame. Ideal for grinding, printing ink, lacquers, adhesives, and paints. Last used in a adhesive operation.

Roller cooling with ¼" NPT inlet port for cooling medium and ¾" NPT outlet. Control panel has push button start, stop and e-stop chain. Mounted on heavy duty base frame.

Simpson, Model No. 0, Style C, 3 ft³, heavy duty, carbon steel, batch mix-muller mixer. Rated to 150 lb batches at a time with pounds per hour – depending on materials and application. Equipped with 36" diameter x 16" deep mixing bowl, with 20" diameter x 8" wide roller mill wheel, 2" diameter feed pipe and 12" x 5" bottom discharge with 36" ground clearance. Powered by 5 Hp motor drive. Ideal for combined pressure and agitation to break down and coat components for a homoginized end product. Mounted on (4) leg heavy duty frame.

Buhler-Maig, Model 6 x 11¾, 3-Roll mill with volumes of product per hour – depending on materials and application. Equipped with (3) 6" in diameter x 11¾" long rollers powered by 3 Hp motor drive, with hand crank gap adjustment, scraper blades and 11¾" long working roll area. All (3) rolls made of hardened steel. Roller cooling with 2"OD / ¾"ID Tri-clamp inlet port for cooling medium and ¾" NPT outlet. Control panel has push button start, stop and e-stop. Mounted on heavy duty base frame with casters.

Ross, Model 2½" x 5" TRM, 3 Roll laboratory dispersion mill. Roll dimensions: 2½" diameter and 5" in length. 107 RPM back roller, 214 RPM middle roller and 428 RPM front roller. Equipped with piped rollers with (1) 3/8" inlet and (1) 3/4" discharge. (4) handwheels for manual roll spacing adjustment, 3½" long apron with a 2" wide discharge, 5¾" x 9" under roller pan and E-stop chain. Mounted on a 36" x 18" stainless steel table.
